Jo Koy: A Stand-Up Comedy Phenomenon
Jo Koy has established himself as a leading figure in stand-up comedy, evolving from his early performances in a Las Vegas coffee house to selling out arenas globally. Drawing inspiration from his family, particularly his son, Koy has achieved remarkable milestones, including setting a record in 2017 for the highest ticket sales by a single artist at The Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall in Honolulu, where he sold 23,000 tickets across 11 shows. This accomplishment led to the declaration of November 24th as "Jo Koy Day" by the Honolulu mayor's office.
His record-breaking journey continued with six sold-out shows at The Warfield in San Francisco and four at Club Regent Event Centre in Winnipeg. In 2019, he made history with five consecutive sold-out performances at the San Diego Civic Theatre and over 30 shows at the Brea Improv, selling more than 17,000 tickets in a single year. Koy has received accolades such as the ?Stand-Up Comedian Of The Year? award at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival and has released four successful comedy specials on major platforms. His podcast, The Koy Pond, features engaging discussions with fellow comedians and friends.
Jo Koy Boston Concert reviews
Never again
Jo Koy probably would have been funny if we could have gotten to the venue. We waited in traffic over two hours to park and never even made it close. Once the start time came and went, we decided it just wasn’t worth it. Hundreds of cars still waiting to park. They were still backed up onto the highway.
We heard from another concert goer the start time was pushed back from 8 pm to 9:30 pm. They had the same problem parking and arrived inside at 9:15 then it took them over two hours to exit once the concert let out.
I realize the venue publicizes that there is limited parking. However for Events of this size it feels like there should be someone directing traffic through lights on surrounding streets to ease congestion into the parking lots and give out of towners (which is everyone!) some idea where they’re supposed to go. Terrible traffic control.
I’m sure there will be another artist I want to see, but if they come to the Tacoma Dome, I won’t waste my money. Never again!
